Trump On The Slide?

Or...the merry-go-round?

It's his fault!

Is today the beginning of the end of the political career of Donald J. Trump?

The news that the Russian involvement in the run up to the Presidential election was far more serious than first reported, and many times worse than the new administration has admitted.

Current US Attorney General Jeff Sessions has quite blatantly lied under oath about his involvement in the matter, and that of the recently dismissed General Flynn; no big surprise there. It's as if these people thought that somehow the truth would stay hidden from the media, that is, the media outlets interested in finding out the truth on these matters.

Something like this cannot be kept secret. In this age of computer technology and good old fashioned greed, nothing can be kept hidden for very long. The real stupidity here is that instead of just coming out and saying that they had been talking to Russia about their relationship if and when Trump became President, they lied and tried to cover up the story. Indeed, the cover-up was arguably worse than the crime.

Really–don't they read anything? History tells us that lying and attempting to cover things up is what leads to political downfall and disgrace. This fact obviously didn't permeate the denseness of the involved parties.

Stupidity and thinking that the rules don't apply to them is what made this scandal into a big story which just might be the nail in the coffin that will bring down President Trump, whereas a straightforward answer would have somewhat mitigated the media's (and the country's) outrage, and given the impression that the administration was in control.

However ridiculous that may sound, it would have given time for a proper assessment of the situation by the Trump camp to come up with a plausible explanation. This, of course, wouldn't have excused the original and very significant lie, but it would have been better than what is now unravelling.

This bears worth repeating: the notion that in this day and age, the media wouldn't find out what was going on, was without question one of the most significant acts of sheer stupidity in recent times.

I believe even the most fervent of Trump's core supporters are growing increasingly uneasy with the casual lying. There will always be people who are so blinkered that nothing he does can be seen as wrong, but people (i.e. Trump voters) who were expecting America to speedily become "Great Again" must be shaking their heads, and possibly kicking themselves, at the growing shambles taking place at the heart of their government. Nothing stays hidden for long when there are so many ways to find out the truth, and so many people who are hell-bent on doing so. Sooner or later, the truth comes out.

Twenty-four hour rolling news channels. The internet. And let's not forget good old fashioned leaked information. The fact that so many people are constantly looking for ways to prove Trump is lying about anything and everything, makes it that much harder to cover up events and wrongdoings.

Suppose that President Trump has become so embroiled in this Russian controversy that he has to resign; Vice President Mike Pence will become the next President. Let's think about that a little bit. A man who doesn't believe in evolution and claims creationism is why we are where we are, might well end up in charge of the United States of America. Having a man with this ideology at the helm means that our leader would be completely comfortable having these skewed ideas taught to impressionable minds in schools across the country. Would science be taken from the curriculum? So very strange to think that one of the most advanced countries on the planet might be stepping back 150 or more years in time, deliberately!

Mike Pence is probably not a stupid man, and I'm sure he fully understands evolution.

My thinking is that he said all the right things to be voted into office, and he probably thinks that the people who voted for him and actually do believe in creationism, are imbeciles. Most politicians believe that anyway, regardless of their religious beliefs. So he wouldn't be alone in that case.

Which makes pious Pence an even bigger hypocritical ass that most. And a despicable liar.

Trump has also played the "I'm a very religious man" card, but he is about as religious as a lump of camel shit!

Once again, America is facing an almost impossible situation. Which idiot is the lesser liability? Stick with a proven shameless liar, or change to an unproven shameless liar?

Welcome to the nightmare which is the USA today!

Never idolize a politician, because they wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.
