Honestly, where do we even begin? There's been a weight of fear and sadness that overcame me, and what seems to be the rest of the world. Rather or not you want to believe that social media has a part in this is up to you, and not something I want to debate about. However, I do want to talk about what we see through every platform.

I have feared even being on social media, yet I love to scroll through and read up on all things movies and fashion. But when I log into my Facebook it's just sad and insane to see what fellow friends post about on their pages. First of all, so many of them are severely under-educated. I can't say whether or not Trump as a president is worthwhile in our country or not. I can say that a lot of what has been going on did not start with him, but it also hasn't ended with him. Not only did our country face yet another mass shooting, but we faced two of them within a matter of hours of one another. Both acts, hate crimes, as they saw it as a means of something this country needed?

That's what gets me, how could you ever let yourself think that this country needs gunmen and mass shootings. How can anyone let themselves believe that race or gender is the cause in anything that happens in our would.

I'm married to the most loving and caring husband that any women would be lucky to have, yet I am the lucky one. Time and time again I tell him I want to move out of this country. Isn't that just sad? I, a born US citizen, want to leave, because I don't believe in the very country I was born and raised in any longer. I feel defeated, and staying alive at this point in my life is only because I feel the need to protect my child and husband at any cost. My husband, a man from Mexico, here as a now-permanent resident, I don't even want him to leave our home.

How can so many born citizens be filled with so much hate? Growing up I was the kid who loved my history class. I loved to know that I lived in a country who was strong and kind-hearted. I used to believe that our flag flew in the wind, because we stood by what was right and saved counties in need. We used to be the haven that Italian immigrants came to, to escape the horror they were being forced to face back at home. We were a country that came to the rescue when Germany tried to take over the world. We were the country that fought amounts ourselves for racial rights to free the black community. In that moment of history, I saw that we were not a great country from that start. We were a country of flaws just as any human is. But through our mistakes, I thought we learned from them and grew from them. We found that compassion always worked, and only in the moment of complete failure of compassion did we stand up and fight and every time we fought, you know what happened?

We became the hero, we were always the hero. Time and time again we Americans would make hero movies with the idea that the hero can only win if they fight for justice and with heart. If we are to fight with anything else then we will lose.

Yet, here I am, present-day me looking back at history me, and seeing that maybe I was the only one who believed. I thought we all understood and got it, but I placed too much faith in this country, and I should have gotten out when I got the chance.

I'm not so sure anyone truly has the answer to end gun violence, but first things first. We must speak openly about every issue at hand. Bottom line. First, to restrict gun laws, I can understand this side of the argument 100 percent, it does appear that our country has far too easy of a time accessing guns. I do agree with this. But, to play devil's advocate here, I'm not convinced that it is the answer. If someone is truly sick in the head, and wants to harm someone, then rather than obtain their own gun, they'll stalk you to know how to obtain your gun. A killer is a killer, and no, guns do not kill people. I stand firmly by that.

To me, it's coming off more and more that we are creating sick minds in this country. Too many people think that by committing a mass killing of one particular group of people, this will solve the problems of poverty, hunger, homelessness, and maybe even jobs. It's a sickness and failure at being properly informed. If anyone is to act on this issue, we should start with media outlets. There has to be a form of accountability to place on the level of information that is being released. Rather or not it is true. Of course, we can sensor new outlets, but can we not simply place responsibility on them for the information they release, and if that information is found to be faulty, then we hold accountability? It seems like that would make sense.

Or how about free therapy, the moment someone is undergoing sin-like thoughts they should be urged to see and therapist. The moment their behavior seems odd, like creating music about a woman being raped and claiming that you only saw that as a joke. What kind of joke is that? Why is no one questioning the man for the second mass shooting, and wondering, will he be the one to come for us next? Since when did joking about rape or killing people become a joke at all?

That is the sickness we seem to overlook and not really question. Of course, my next thought is why are guns so obtainable? Particularly AK-47's? When will one ever need an AK-47 outside of combat? Why is this a gun that the regular American person can get? Why hasn't a law been made saying that an AK-47 or any combat-like gun can only be held by professionals who have done extensive training, or hold some kind of certificate?

So many questions, and I am sure it's clear that I am not the person with answers. I only hope there is something more that will get done—End Rant!
