Will Divsiveness Be the Terrorism That Ruins Our Nation?

Our Enemies Are Sitting Back and Waiting

All the divisive negativity on the interweb has got to stop!

I have been saying it for about a decade now, getting louder as I go. It seems no one is listening. I decided to blog about it, to try to reach more "ears."

We live in one of the greatest countries in the world. Next to Israel, we are the nation with some of the greatest freedoms any citizen could ask for. ( I say next to Israel because that country stands firm on freedom of religion, whereas today, in the USA, you are not allowed to have and to hold your religious morals, if they are counter-cultural, without taking a hit.) There are people literally dying to make it to this country, to grasp the American Dream—Yes, that is still alive, though social media would have you think otherwise.

Yet, as great as our country is, We the People are tearing it apart, with the constant infighting. It is seen all over the world, thanks to cable news and social media. It was bad at the end of the Bush era, built up at a fevered pitch during the 8 years of Obama, and now is at a frenzied, violent height.

Democrats: You don't agree with 100% of what I say and think? You are a disgrace as a human! You are trying to support our president? You are a racist, misogynistic homophobe. You believe that life begins at conception? You are an ignoramus. Your life was affected in a bad way, because of Obamacare, and you want it changed? You will make millions die!

Republicans: You don't agree with 100% of what I say and think? You are a libertard. You refuse to support this president? Well, actually we don't like him either, so we will just pretend to care. You believe that abortion should be a woman's right? BABY KILLER! You received affordable health care, and found comfort in Obamacare? Welfare loser!

POTUS: Everyone who disagrees with me: Liar, loser, bad, bleeding face, crooked, pig, etc etc.

Do you see a pattern here? It is childlike. It is pretty much ALL bullying. How can our country stand united, when there are so much bullying and divisiveness between not just the political parties, but the people of this country? It makes me sick to my stomach, that my teenage boy has been growing up in this pattern.

I watch it within my own extended family, in my friends. Every day on the news, in media posts and editorials. Most of the time, people are commenting without any true basis of understanding of the topic.

I watch as the violence on the streets, all in the name of "peaceful protests" erupts. Every group, from police to immigrants, women to veterans, clash in violence.

Now, as an American citizen, I sit back and realize that other nations are watching too. They are watching as our nation divides itself from within, and little by little starts to crumble.

We have so many enemies throughout the world, just waiting for the best time to launch an attack. When is the best time? When the country is so engaged in a civil battle, that they do not see what is happening outside the nation. Even some of our so called allies are watching.

You see, there is no such thing as a true ally. Even they will turn at a moments notice, and become an enemy if it suits them.

Is this what we want? Is this how we lose our great nation? By our own divisiveness?

We talk about terrorism, and it is a legit fear for our country, after all, we have seen. Do you know the definition of terrorism? Let me help you out:

Noun (Dictinary.com)

  1. The use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.
  2. The state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
  3. A terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.

Hmmm, do you see what I see? Do you see what I am trying to say here? This divisiveness is making We the People are the terrorists of our own country!

I am all for freedom of speech. Seriously, I could not be writing this blog if we did not have that right. I am not for this divisive terror that so many people are hell bent on spewing back and forth at each other. It needs to end. NOW!

How can we start mending things? Well, begin by looking in the mirror.

How can you change your words so that you can get your point across, without being nasty, argumentative and divisive?

Before posting news articles and such on social media, be sure you have all the facts, by consulting various sources, including both conservative and liberal agencies, calling your Congressmen, and pulling up actual documents. If you are too lazy or do not have the time to look up the facts, don't post.

Come across someone who is being nasty and coming at you? use this simple phrase, " I am so happy that you have the right to your opinion just as I do. Thank you for expressing it." Then walk away.

Email your state and federal politicians. Let them know that they are contributing to the failure of our nation, and you are not happy. If they do not change their ways? Vote them out of office. I don't care if they have done "good things" for your state, etc, if they want to be divisive, political terrorists, then they need to go. Remember, they work for you, not the other way around.

This is an amazing country, and we can be even better, if we can "just get along" (Rodney King) Imagine what we could do, what our politicians could do, if we /they set apart their personal differences and bullying, and worked for the greater good!

Take some time to reflect on the last decade. How do YOU feel about the direction our country has gone in?

God bless you, and this beautiful Nation.
