Who Is Really Trying to Take Away Your Freedom?

Their Government or Your Own?

I'm gonna receive so much heat for this post... by both Liberals AND Conservatives.

Let's get started 😁

Before anyone assumes anything, allow me to declare that I highly respect our troops. I have had both family and friends serve in this country's military. I understand that those who join our military are good patriots. I am not here to smear their service or what they have done, I am here to shed some light on what has become a very skewed perspective.

Much to my annoyance, I constantly hear patriots say, "Our troops are fighting for our freedom." In this article: America Soldiers Did Not Die Defending Our Freedom,Jacob G. Hornberger calls this idea a bromide.

If you just had to look up the word "bromide," you're not alone. In fact, for those of you who are truly lazy, here:

*bro·mide: a trite and unoriginal idea or remark, typically intended to soothe or placate."feel-good bromides create the illusion of problem solving"

Placate, ouch. But if you think about it, that is EXACTLY what that convenient little phrase does. When soldiers come back from war with loss of limb, burnt sides of their faces, PTSD, or don't come back at all, people tend to placate their loved ones by saying, "they were defending our freedom." How true is that? Honestly?

Let's look at Hornberger's controversial article. He runs through several wars the United States has been part of for over 100 years; from World Wars to invasions. Over and over again he stresses the point that the countries the U.S. has gone to war with, "did not attack and did not threaten to attack," the U.S.A.

His examples included: World War I, Korean War, Invasion of Panama, Vietnam War, Invasion of Grenada, and World War II.

*Please note = The attack on Pearl Harbor (December 7th 1941) during WWII was in Hawaii. These chain of islands did not become a state until 1959; which means that the attack was NOT on U.S. soil.

As for the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, which were retaliations for 9/11, Hornberger claims, "No, al-Qaeda was never going to invade and occupy the United States and take away our freedom. Neither was the Taliban. The 9/11 attacks were retaliation for actions taken by the U.S. government in the Middle East prior to 9/11. The Taliban government never attacked the United States or even threatened to do so," and, "Iraq, (was) a country whose government never attacked the United States or even threatened to do so. Thus, not one single U.S. soldier died in Iraq “defending our freedom” because our freedom was never threatened by Iraq."

Bold words. I don't fully support his last statements about al-Qaeda. True, they were not going to "invade and occupy," but you can't deny that they took the lives of thousands of Americans. Which (the right to live is certainly a freedom) is a form of "taking our freedom."

American troops have not "fought to defend our freedom" since the Civil War. All of the battles since then have to do with aiding our allies and protecting stations that are outside of our country. I'm not trying to mitigate the service that the military does, but it makes my blood boil to hear people use the bromide of, "defending our freedom," when good men and women are lost to wars or have loss of limb, sanity, or worse. Because here's the thing: other countries are NOT trying to take away the people's freedom...

That responsibility, falls on our government.

Who sends those brave men and women off to war? The Commander-in-Chief, a.k.a. the President of the United States. The president hypes up the people by demonizing whatever country it is that he wants to go to war with, and then placates the families of those that are lost by saying, "they died defending our freedom."

Um... no, jackass. Vast majority of soldiers that give their lives for YOUR war don't need to be across the world to defend America's freedom. I can understand that our government sends troops across the world to PREVENT invasion, future hostilities, or attacks. However, a lot of it has to do with fear mongering. The president needs an excuse to do whatever it is he wants to do.

Now, when it comes to politics, I often like to find middle ground. However, I find both parties DESPICABLE. Each side relentlessly blames the other for ALL the problems in this country, while I sit back and say, "All you fuckers are to blame."

You want to know the truth about the jeopardy of America's freedom? Just look at a few of the current political issues:

  1. As I stated before; the right to live is a freedom. Yet, the death penalty has CONSTANTLY been a political issue. Admittedly, I am a supporter of the death penalty, but by right, the death penalty takes away another person's freedom/free will.
  2. The right to bare arms is a HUGE one people are quibbling over, (and HAVE BEEN arguing over) but nonetheless, it's still a right. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
  3. This particular one is heated because of the view points about life; abortion. Pro-choicers see it as taking away a woman's rights. Pro-lifers see it as taking away the rights of someone without a voice. So, in either case, free will is being revoked.
  4. Civil forfeiture is clearly unconstitutional based on the due process clause (and in my opinion, the Fourth Amendment, as well) yet somehow, it's still legal.
  5. Voter suppression continues in a few different forms. How Voter Suppression Could Swing the Midterms.
  6. Transgenderism is currently being viewed as... nonexistent, and saddest of all, reverted back to original identity postmortem. Dying Trans
  7. Oh... and you know that thing that's never been illegal that everyone uses for EVERYTHING... ALL THE TIME... the INTERNET?! Yeah, thanks to the repeal of net neutrality, the way you search on your device is going to change. Meaning, you may have to pay for what's been FREE for over three decades.
  8. Education has ALWAYS taken a hit when it comes to funding, PLUS what gets taught keeps going into decline (The Cynic's View), which means that future generations do not know how to fight against corruption... much less how to recognize it.
  9. And finally... my favorite: The Right of Revolution. You think we can ever come CLOSE to trying to overthrow our government? Consider what happened to the protesters of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Protesters Removed

How about the protesters of the Kavanaugh outcome? Arrested on Capitol Hill.

How about anyone who has EVER rebelled against the government? They all end up jailed. Sometimes worse... but that's for conspiracy theorists to explain.

The list keeps growing, but you get the point...

Despite this broken government of democratic republic turned capitalist oligarchy, there are still a select few individuals who are TRYING to maintain and fight for our freedoms. They are members of the Supreme Court (you know, the ones who ruled that racism should end) and occasionally, they're your senators. Quite often they can't get ANYTHING done because they're too busy pointing fingers at each other, and if you don't believe me, please refer to Government Shutdowns in the United States.

But until the army and police decide to rise up with the people in support of anarchy to claim freedom for ourselves, the people of the United States can go out and vote for "representatives" they deem worthy of making decisions FOR THEM.

So here I am, the Non Partisan who believes that democracy is dead, telling you to go out and vote... I suppose that makes me a filthy hypocrite.

Anyway, do your research before you cast your ballot. Look into the candidates, understand what each question is asking and comprehend what passing them would mean. Because after standing next to an ignorant teenager who was asking if he could call his mom during his process of voting, I can't stress enough how important it is for voters to KNOW WHAT THEY'RE VOTING FOR!!!!
