The press grills Sean Spicer about new Canadian prime minister "Joe Trudeau."https://www.thestar.com/content/dam/thestar/news/world/2017/02/14/trumps-press-secretary-just-called-justin-trudeau-prime-minister-joe-trudeau-of-canada/spicer.jpg.size.custom.crop.1086x687.jpg

It seems that Press Secretary Sean Spicer can't catch a break. Between insisting that the turnout for President Trump's inauguration was at record levels (it wasn't) and Melissa McCarthy's over the top impersonation of him on Saturday Night Live, Spicer has been relentlessly skewered by comics, pundits and the general public. This skewering has occurred on television and on social media, and he just can't escape it.

It's about to get worse.

"Yesterday the president had an incredibly productive set of meetings and discussions with PM Joe Trudeau of Canada," Spicer said at the latest White House daily briefing.

That set off a new flurry of tweets that are effectively flaming the beleaguered press secretary once again.

Of course, the Canadian prime minister's name is Justin Trudeau. Sure, some might argue that both names start with J, but the bottom line is, Spicer's remarks were prepared. He had enough time to type everything up and get ready for the briefing - you would figure that he would have had time to ensure that he had the right name down for Canada's leader, right?

Wrong.

While it's almost certain that comics everywhere are getting ready to pounce on Spicer, if they haven't already done so, Spicer is looking more and more incompetent. Things aren't looking good for the Trump administration as a whole, if one were to be completely honest.

We are only three weeks into the Trump administration, and so far, we have a press secretary who seems to bluster more than he keeps the facts or pronunciation straight, we have a National Security Advisor who is at the center of yet another Trump controversy, and we have a president who more or less has seen his travel ban go kaboom.

While there are few politicians who are able to escape the White House relatively unscathed, it would appear that President Trump should seriously reconsider the people he has chosen to surround himself with in the White House. In referring to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as Joe, Spicer has demonstrated a complete lack of care and concern in his job, and given he is the one putting the facts out to the press - at least, the facts as the Trump administration sees them - he is helping to make this version of the White House look completely incompetent.

Meanwhile, Canadians everywhere are looking forward to meeting their prime minister, "Joe."
