Tiki Torch Nazis

Didn't think I'd have to explain why Nazis are bad.

I never thought I’d live to see the day where talking crap about Nazis would offend people and be considered a bold political statement.

I don’t want to give the wrinkled testicle dipped in Cheetos dust that we elected any more media coverage, but I have to bring up the Nazis that no longer feel the need to hide because of his win in last year’s election. Richard Spencer, the man who claims he is responsible for the term “Alt-Right” and thinks it was a gift from God that Trump won, is a self-proclaimed “White Nationalist.” He thinks it’s a shiny enough title to blind us from the fact that he was one of the tiki torch Nazis. He also felt the need to protest the removal of a confederate statue. I’m confused, does the Right think that confederate monuments are important or that losers shouldn’t get participation trophies? Hate to break it to you, tiki torch Nazis, but the Confederate side lost the war. We need to make Nazis afraid again. I may be a super queer, very feminine, and barely five foot one, but I aspire to ruin a Nazi's day in a similar fashion to the scene where a man referred to as the “Bear Jew” beats the daylights out of some Nazi scum with a baseball bat in the popular cinematic adventure titled Inglorious Basterds, directed by the horrid Quentin Tarantino.

I’m not someone who likes violence. I personally avoid physical confrontations because I pride myself on the ability to be a peacemaker in a very conflicted world. With that being said, when it comes to Nazis, it’s a whole different story. We need to make racists afraid again. Anyone who thinks diversity is a bad thing obviously didn't have a lot of friends in the sandbox. My observations of the tiki torch Nazis who are bold enough to show their faces have all turned out to be white dudes who have usually been fed with a silver spoon all their life and get offended when someone points out their privilege. I find it hilarious that I make these toddlers trapped in grown men’s bodies uncomfortable and threatened simply by existing. Hey, I'll give them some credit, however. They are ballsy. I must congratulate you, tiki torch Nazis, on being worshiped by people on 4chan that got so caught up in a joke they actually started believing Nazi rhetoric. Edgy white dudes: go to your rallies, then go home and cry, then call other people over the internet “neckbeards," and somehow convince yourself that you are super special and that everything you haven't experienced is wrong and fake. I honestly feel bad, because not recognizing your own privilege is incredibly ignorant and even my four-year-old nephews have started realizing that they have a lot of things other kids don't; not everything in the world is equal. They have already shown more empathy than I've seen any of these so-called “Alt-Right” members display in any of their interviews, rallies, or even recruitment sites.

A race can’t claim they’re superior when the existence of diversity is frightening and uncomfortable. A race cannot claim they are superior if they cannot even recognize their own privilege. I personally believe that there is no superior race; that every being has some sort of default. Diversity is nothing to be scared of or something that should make you uncomfortable.

The White Nationalists claiming they aren't Nazis are full of crap. There are videos of crowds of tiki torch Nazis chanting “blood and soil” which is an old Nazi chant. They also chanted “you will not replace us” and quickly changed to, “Jews will not replace us.” I'm not saying you can't enjoy your heritage; I've gone to German festivals and Scandinavian-themed cookouts at my family's church. No one is saying you can't enjoy your heritage, but allow us to do the same. People of color are arrested for celebrating their heritage. A native woman was arrested burning sage on a sidewalk, but thousands of men wielding torches are met with officers standing by because of freedom of speech, right? You have your right to freedom of speech as do I, but black men and women are met with rubber bullets and tear gas while they are peacefully protesting, while white nationalists protesting are met with police protection. So don't tell me the police are not biased. Freedom of speech protects you from legal prosecution, but not from public criticism and action.

I now encourage you, as the reader, to take a look at yourself, recognize your own privilege, and acknowledge its existence. Remember to be empathetic and put yourself in someone else's shoes. Work further on your education, whether that be in school or independently; you can never know too many things. Always be critical of your core beliefs. Question everything.
