How the Sacklers directly changed my family, and our lives, forever.

Three beautiful children, a loving family, and a thriving, nationwide family-owned business... This was the life prior to my husband being prescribed opiates. I didn’t know that he was instantly addicted. It was a gradual process, when beer at night turned into him secretly snorting them because they are that bad, adding hard liquor. They cause instant brain malfunction. After all, the Sakimers easily-accessible test pilots were their very own mental patients at the psychiatric hospital that they ran in Queens, NY.

The doctor that prescribed opiates to my husband was one of those eventually sent to prison.

Our middle son became addicted because the man that used to be an amazing father, dedicated husband, AND a fabulously magical businessman, sent our 18-year-old son to buy him some off of the streets. No father in their right mind would ever ask their child such a thing. But he wasn’t in his right mind. The evil of opiates had taken over. I was blindsided about a year after the thumb incident sent him to a doctor near our business, our housekeeper told me that she was finding pills hidden in random spots for a while.

The patient is real footage of my son prior to his spinal surgery to remove a staph infection from reusing a needle. He was maybe two days away from dying without the surgery. His spinal cord was being squeezed to death from the staph. His bladder and bowels were already paralyzed. Within hours, it would have paralyzed his limbs and finally, his brain stem. They removed seven inches of vertebrae to save his life. Then prescribed more pain pills, keeping him—like many—addicted.

I, and my family, have been severely afflicted by opiates, and I have never set my hands on one. I’d go crazy on a doctor if they ever tried to prescribe that to me or anyone that I know. The almost-insinuation of the offer creates a silent growl in my being, and, they intuitively know better.

I have 16 years of double back with a father and son, helplessly on these pathetic, man-made pills. It is an almost helpless situation when it becomes as strong as it was. My husband died a young 62-year-old rock-n-roller and very charismatic, until opiates entered his life. Our three sons have suffered the biggest loss of their lives, all in the name of opiates.
