Reason First: Did Theresa May Exit too Early or too Late?

As the Prime Minister resigns, what does this mean for Britain?

What happened to the “stiff upper lip” mentality of Britons? Maybe the expression of emotion was Theresa May’s way of defeating repression. With her exit as prime minister of Britain, she now has time to reassess her policies and step back and review her time as Head of State. Back-to-back resignations from from David Cameron in 2016 to now May, might place Great Britain in a state of puzzlement. Will May’s successor be able to hold the reins long enough enough to see a proper Brexit deal in the fall?

As Mrs. May makes her personal departure, the United Kingdom still is hanging on, and they ought to be yearning for a leader who will make rational, selfish decisions. It is up to that country to find a way to become emboldened by the opportunity to go up against the regulations and controls that the European Union imposes.

If Brexit means a pathway to liberty for Britons, then it ought be put into place. To extinguish the burdens and controls would signal not just to Europe but to the world that Britain has the mental might to face any challenges.

Since there is no such thing as “fair trade” and only free trade, Brexit ought to show that countries can exchange funds without being tied down by the E.U. Mrs. May’s failure to bring the negotiations to a favorable point illustrates her inability to take on her opposition and push her plans through the political muck. Over the course of her stunted career as Prime Minister, Mrs. May has had to weigh the option of what the British people actually want. (Or do they even know what they want?) They ought to be presented with free markets, free labor, and the ability to exchange funds easily and without restraint.

Theresa May’s policies only exacerbated the problem over Brexit by instituting regulations within the deal. The very purpose and main idea of Britain’s Exit from the E.U. was to unfetter the markets and allow for freedom to reign in the region. She wanted to retain controls.

Northern Ireland presents the freest economy in Europe. Ireland now has increased economic freedom and also personal liberties like divorce and abortion as Dr. Yaron Brook has said. Should Britain take the same steps as Ireland? The U.K. continues to be able to live on the precipice of being a beacon for capitalism and independence. Imagine that... A place where absolute laissez-faire capitalism will be the shining example of the world. There’s plenty of undone work that May is leaving behind. Her try in her victories over the Labor Party proved to be too little, too late and her losses failed spectacularly.

If Brexit is supposed to exist, the tariffs should drop to zero percent and permit free trade throughout the region. The place would look like Hong Kong does today. That rock with little regulations, gleaming skyscrapers, and little to no natural resources to speak of is an example of free markets. The British over a century ago instituted the rule of law and allowed a small fishing village to become an economic powerhouse.

Mrs. May could have envisioned Brexit but her assertions should have been based on a no-deal basis. If it requires Britons to be shackled by regulations and controls, then it should be off of the table. For her successor to know this would be boon to the lives of those Britons. But Brexit still seems to not serve a clear-cut purpose. To have the Conservatives and the Labor Party to bicker over the whole matter is sad and frustrating. Why should some people vote for Brexit? They wanted to not allow the flow of people into the country to “protect” their own employment. This irrationality depends on the unreason exhibited by those who support the “bad” Brexit. The “good” Brexit would symbolize liberty and justice. The goals of Brexit should have been to establish an unencumbered economy that would have served as a model for the rest of the world.

Instead, Theresa May must exit in disgust based on her ineptitude, the inability for her party to correct and rectify a proper Brexit and an entire U.K. must wait to see what will happen to them. Let’s see if that upper lip still quivers.
