No Time to Lose

They say the nature of a man is best judged by his actions and deeds. For Sam Jones—a mild tempered man who has seen first hand the wonton despair and despondency of ordinary citizens, day after day, languish in quiet desperation just clinging to the hope that one day soon their lives will take a sudden turn for the better—is about to make a decision that could very well alter the destinies of millions of Americans.

The realization that has come to light is that town after town, more businesses are going out of business. The pace of which has far exceeded new businesses. The continuing drain of loss employment opportunities, along with those who are still employed, have all seen their paychecks shrink, not only in base pay but in relation to the ever-increasing cost of living. Everywhere from consumables, to healthcare, to clothing, to housing and energy; all have seen sharp price increases with no signs of tapering off. Just a few year ago, California experienced its worst drought in over 1200 years. That was the worst drought in 1200 years (that's not a typo!). Today, drought covers over 88 percent of the entire state. Without assistance from neighboring states there's only one year left of water in California's reservoirs. Many farmers have lost over 20 percent of normal crop yield. California leads all other states in agriculture, creating possible food shortages

That impact is still being felt. More so now with the past severe forest fires and earthquakes that have shook the entire state. Meanwhile, fresh water reservoirs all across the country are diminishing, even with all the torrential rainfall and mass flooding that we have seen. So far over the past ten years the United States have lost over 55 percent of normal harvestable food crops. This has created food shortages, which have driven food prices right through the roof. Not to mention with Trump's tariffs that have also impacted practically everything we buy. The remarks by Trump and the Republican establishment that global warming and climate change isn't happening have yet to realize what is happening, not only in the US, but all around the globe. It is now no wonder that life in the United States is a far cry from those days when fresh water and healthy food was readily available, and the ladder of upward mobility was easily at hand.

A year and four months till the next Presidential election is more than enough time, even for the faint of heart like Sam to put together a workable plan of direction that details specifically how to rectify a nation that really is crumbling from within. But, with those so called "Wizards" of bureaucratic expediency, all these Democratic presidential wannabe's all clamoring for top tier positions in the Presidential foray are poised to further divide a divided nation. And, now with Trump spewing racial slurs, have only further divided this nation. This has set in motion a carnival of political posturing, pitting one against the other in the hope of seducing the American public that would catapult them into that lofty coveted office in the White House.

As Sam sits with his round table of close friends and associates, each accepting the fact that there is a way to unite this great divide of a nation. In just a short time, they have to set in motion the ground work for a political tidal wave to end the quagmire that has gripped this nation that is in a death throes of sociological, economic, and financial destabilization. The road that Sam is about to embark on is laden with perils that would deter even the most ambitious man. But, a person who has conviction, humility, compassion, and a defined plan of direction to first educate, enlighten, and inform a skeptical public into accepting the facts as they are, is a first step that must be taken. In education there is an understanding that the solutions to these many urgent needs will be the basis for self improvement, economic, and financial gain for everyone. For without education, without an informed public, and without activism by the majority of the populace, our society and the Democratic process of our nation will not survive.

When Henry Jacobs first met Sam he saw a man that is a true visionary. The next step was to introduce Sam to the editor of one of the nation's top news organizations. Tom Struthers, the editor of this acclaimed newspaper knew instinctively that Sam had a greater calling. The ground work was already being laid. For Tom, Henry, and Sam this is the beginning of what is going to be a dark horse candidate. A dark horse candidate to take his place on the national stage. In today's political climate though, is the realization that so much money is now mandated by the media, coveted by every political candidate, encouraged by major corporations, and affecting policy decisions of our elected officials and even the Supreme Court. This, to make the perpetuation of career politicians a safe bet. All of which has left a nation corrupted.

What Tom Struthers is about to do will rewrite the rules of what is now commonly known as the political game to even the playing field, and corrupt the already corrupted political process. As owner and editor of one of the nation's most esteemed news organizations, Tom has the availability and the authority to wield enormous clout. We have all seen what news organizations have done in the past. They can make or break any political office seeker with a stroke of a pen. When The Boston Globe firmly specified criteria for aspiring candidates for public office, using personal wealth as the main criteria as the viability of those candidates sets a very bad precedent. But, today all the mainstream media has done, and continues to do, is to deter and deny any candidate that does not meet their specific criteria as a viable candidate. In essence if, like Sam, who is not wealthy by monetary terms, he and others whose personal wealth doesn't meet the requirements set by the mainstream media can't even compete and are denied the opportunity to do so. The perpetuation of wealth prevails in every election cycle. It really isn't any wonder why the laws passed most often are geared toward the wealthy, and the income disparity gap remains the greatest in history.

When Sam hears about people today who are working, but have had to endure low wages for years, struggling to survive, and can't even afford health insurance even with the Affordable Health Care Act in place. The decision to make a difference in their lives and livelihoods could very well be his legacy. For the only industrialized nation that does not offer Universal Healthcare for all its citizens, this is just one of the reasons why this dark horse candidate just might rewrite history.

Not only is the country faced with a humane crisis of non-affordable healthcare, Sam has found out that the nation's fresh water supplies, like the rest of our infrastructure is at a critical juncture. When the current Chairman and former CEO of Nestlé, the largest producer of food products in the world, believes that the answer to Californians and global water issues is privatization. This statement from the wonderful company that has peddled junk food all over the world, has invested money to thwart the labeling of GMO-filled products, has a disturbing health and ethics record for its infant formula, and has deployed a cyber army to monitor Internet criticism and shape discussions on social media. It is well known that large multinational beverage companies are usually given water-well privileges, and even tax breaks over citizens, because they create jobs, which is apparently more important to the local governments than water rights to other taxpaying citizens. The jobs created though are so often non-living wage jobs, but as long as the company makes a profit, that's the rationale today. These companies such as Coca Cola and Nestlé, which continue to drain the nation's aquifers calling it Poland Spring, continues to suck up millions of gallons of water, leaving the public to suffer with any shortages. It is these CEO's, as well as our own government policy that stipulates that access to water is not a public right. Nor is it a human right. So privatization is the answer, meaning another mandate on the public to either pay more out of pocket expenses for water, so that major corporations continue to reap huge profits. The reverse Robin Hood mentality is alive, well, and flourishing.

For Sam, the decision to educate the American public couldn't come at a more critical time. The nation is actually a ticking time bomb. While current leaders of bureaucratic inefficiency continue to wallow in self glorification, this leaves Sam with a opportunity to capture the nation's attention with the hard cold facts that, if non-corrective measures are put in place, and the political climate remains so corrupted, more lives and livelihoods will forever be at the mercy of the conglomerates that control what comes out of Washington and every state house around the country. And with it, our world will be thrust into an inferno due to the ineffectiveness of Trump and Congress to urgently address Climate Change.

It is too bad that more of the mainstream editors don't follow what Tom Struthers is doing. The education of America through the medium of Television, the Internet, and hard copies of the news is essential. Through the benevolence of Tom Struthers, it has been made possible the opportunity for Sam to enlighten, entertain, and educate the public. This is the type of exposure that is needed to avail to the public the facts, the solutions, and what these solutions will do for both short term results, and long term gains for every man, women, and child around the country Since Tom owns two major Television networks, Sam has landed the chance of a lifetime to make a difference for the good of a nation. Just think of the consequences today when a 30 second commercial during the Super Bowl costs over three million dollars just for one commercial slot, when given air time for free, for political campaigns will be a step to easing the corruption, and reducing the enormous waste of money that could be used to support life changing solutions for the general public.

Will Sam make it to the top and reach the White House? That depends of how the public responds to the solutions and equates those solutions to everyone's improved quality of life. There is little time left for not only this nation, but for the world to have again a true leader that will bind the wounds of a divided nation, and restore stability with reason all across the globe.
