If You Got Mad at Starbucks, YOU Are the Racist

An Opinion from a Man Whom Some of You Will Surely Call Racist

This Starbucks situation is really pissing me off. That might not be an eloquent way of describing the thoughts within me right now, but it is an accurate one. The corporation, whose products I am actually quite fond of, announced today that it will begin instituting a new policy where anyone, regardless of being a customer, is free to use their lobbies, couches, tables, chairs and bathrooms at any time, for however long they need. Some are calling this a perfectly reasonable and acceptable response to their racist policy of throwing out two black men for just sitting there and not buying anything, but then again, some people call Larry The Cable Guy the pinnacle of stand up comedy. Some people say a lot of things, and the diversity in intelligence that the human race is subject to is truly a detrimental thing to have happened. That 5%, 10%, 85% percent quote Edison has makes a lot of sense.

This ever growing trend of screaming fascism, racism, sexism and whatever other ism people throw out while facing consequences for receiving discipline from illegal and/or socially unacceptable behavior. What kind of a selfish person would take up seats at an establishment which they weren't ordering from? Is it that difficult to either wait outside and let paying customers use tables/chairs or buy a delicious Frappuccino and relax while waiting for your business meeting? How about a pink drink? Or those lemonade infused fruit flavored teas are the beverage equivalent of a week long vacation in Bali. Even their regular coffee, while overpriced, is of a high quality and refreshing taste. Why would ANYONE trust two grown ass men taking up seats at a Starbucks while not buying anything?

Regardless if that rhetorical (unless if you harass me on social media, then you can respond, but otherwise I'm really sort of talking to myself here) rant, this isn't the only situation where bratty people assume their ability to pursue life, liberty, and happiness allows them to bypass laws and common decency. That girl on the subway who told a cop no when he asked her to not use the seats as a footrest is a prime example, and how you felt about that situation might indicate whether or not you are seething in rage at me or what people on social media, in conjunction with media outlets, did to Starbucks.

I'm tired of idiots claiming to be sovereign citizens and then crying police brutality. I'm tired of criminals being harassed for committing crimes relying on the race card. I'm tired of a lack of responsibility for everybody's actions. I don't know what went on inside the hearts and minds of those Starbucks employees' who called the police on those two guys that everyone wants to make a big deal that they are black. "You can not even be black and sit at Starbucks without getting the police called on you!" is such an extreme reaction to "police investigate loitering in busy and public place." I don't see how those two dots connect, but I will play that childhood game with you right here.

Dot A: Many homeless people enjoy loitering in temperature controlled environments.

Dot B: Starbucks are temperature controlled buildings.

Dot C: Many homeless people freely urinate and defecate in the streets.

Dot D: Many Starbucks locations will feature homeless people escaping the heat/cold and using its bathrooms.

Maybe I'm a heartless individual, but I don't want the homeless in a high end coffeehouse. I want the homeless working, or trying to find work. If you refuse to work, if you refuse to contribute in any way, share or form, you don't deserve to be in a place where people go to spend money and relax. That relaxation is for customers, and it part of the reason why the drinks at Starbucks cost so much damn money. When smelly, loud, and rude people take up space in an establishment in which they aren't contributing financially to, it takes away the enjoyment from the actual customers.

The homeless are people too, and if they can afford Starbucks, by all means Starbucks they shall have! But please, homeless or not, white, black, brown, yellow, green, blue or red, don't go into a coffeehouse and not buy anything. If it is an emergency, run in and use the bathroom, but for the love of our country, which you should have, stop treating other people's businesses and spots which they frequent to relax as if it was your own personal living room or office. It isn't.
