HS2: Rising Costs

The planet is melting but can I get to London quicker please

Don't come here looking for real news. That's not what I am.

£30 Billion

So the HS2 rail aiming to reduce the time it takes to travel by train from London up into the superior of the North by nearly an hour in some places (Manchester to London) might end up costing an additional £30Bn. The 250mph trains are set to be in use (for Birmingham to London journeys) by 2026 and for other places around the 2033 mark.

Delightful! In the future we'll be able to get around this tiny country on overly expensive trains even quicker? That might be useful for outrunning the climate crisis rapidly pursuing us.

Climate Emergency

Do I give a fuck about some trains? No. Every time I see HS2, my brain automatically adds an "M" and I'm immediately transported to a golf course watching Zac Efron of the past flinging his arms around and reflecting through the medium of an absolute banger.

I hope my grandchildren get to enjoy that song.

That the planet still functions enough for them to be able to tell me to "turn off my old ass music."

The grandchildren I assume were adopted by the children I adopted because I'm not sure I can morally bring more people into this shit show you've all made. Thanks to the human race of the past 50 or so years. Top job.

On Hold

Just put everything on hold and sort the planet out. Oh Cronan, you're so unrealistic that's just not how the world functions.

Sure.

The society we've created doesn't function in a way that allows us to pause our nonsense pursuit of furthering our whiny ass needs to save the planet we live on. I see how I'm the unreasonable one here. Great system you're defending. I know I'm just typing up some garbage that is basically yelling into a void, but it turns out this is a solid way to vent.

HS2

It actually would be super handy to get to London from Leeds in under 90 minutes. Especially if we can reduce ticket prices. I don't know why an overspend matters. If someone smarter than me wants to explain, that would be nice. Sure we spend our money in the wrong places and could do better things with it. But is that the reason this is news? Doesn't feel that way. Just feels like commenting for the sake of commenting. Much like what I do hear all the time or what people are aggressively doing about the new Cats trailer.

Wrap it up

That subtitle isn't a comment on using condoms, but you probably should do that too.

Listen, I don't know anything about this nor do I feel equipped enough to talk about it, but my friend said I had to write an article on it so I have. Yes, if they told me jump of a cliff I might. Shut up.

But isn't it nice that I can do this. At least some of us are in a position to just spew our unasked for opinions across the internet whenever we want.

The amount of thought and effort I've put into this is less than Trump and Johnson put into one sentence, and yet it makes more sense than they do and is less offensive to anyone who identifies as a human being.

Wouldn't it be nice if one day the left left the planet behind and started anew while the right stayed screaming about how right they were to stay on the arid flame ball we used to call home (Earth).

Thank You!
