A New World Order

The Failure of Liberalism and Collapse of Democracy

The New World Order is one which shall replace the old liberal order, seeking to guarantee stability and order rather than liberty or freedom or equality. The first and most pressing concern of the New World Order is the dismemberment and destruction of liberal organizations, including the United Nations, European Union, and other groups such as NATO, or market trade organizations that tie countries together. As the European Union is on the verge of collapse and without power over its member states of Italy, Hungary, and Poland, the liberal organization must collapse. President Trump has repeatedly threatened to pull out of NATO and Republicans have introduced bills in committee that would have us leave the United Nations, as we have left the UN Human Rights Council. Once considered a country fully dedicated to the establishment and maintenance of the liberal political order, the United States is abolishing the institutions that were created to benefit itself and its allies, creating major contradictions in the American narrative. Second, there are three conflicting views of world organizations, left, right, and center. The center holds that international neoliberal organizations are an ultimately beneficial development, while leftists point out that they only benefit certain people and the right states that it would be better had they never existed, as they increase our dependence upon others. This disunity of interpretations causes an increasing disunity to society.

The New World Order is formed from a disdain for liberal institutions, including NAFTA, the IMF, and the World Bank, each of whom are seen either as imperialist or weakening the nation. The left holds the view that these are tools of imperialism that increase the dependence of smaller countries upon the larger more successful capitalist countries, while the right holds the belief that these weaken us because they share our resources with others. Centrists are wholly irrelevant insofar as what they believe as they have no strong compunctions or impulses, no driving force, they merely are; the goal of centrists is to uphold the status quo with minor modifications, not to overturn whole systems or world systems of government and oppression. Another World Order is forming from the ashes of the European Union with closer connections between fascist Hungary, Poland, and Italy, each of whom are in danger of leaving the Union. These countries seek stronger ties with one another, as well as with right-wing parties in other countries who are becoming increasingly polarized. We live in the time of the most dangerous challenge to the Post Cold War order. The new fascists who have taken control are dangerously close to ethnic cleansing, and in fact the deputy prime minister of Italy has suggested that a "cleansing" should happen, "street to street, town square to town square, city to city."

This dangerous rhetoric is mostly responsible for the rise of the right. People believe, wrongly, that resources are scarce, because the wealthy hold the vast majority of them, and so they think, we need to focus upon our own people, regardless of whether those people are even being helped. And this is the justification for restriction and repression. This is a logical fallacy--if we were to, as the communists suggested, redistribute the wealth of society, we would have enough resources to take care of any who entered and all who are here. Artificial scarcity is the weapon of fascism. In Latin America, companies and individuals under Allende's government in Chile withheld the resources necessary to feed the people, and in doing so, increased discontent and dissent, but as soon as Allende was overthrown in a bloody coup, the food was miraculously restored to the whole of Chile, within days.

The New World Order is China, Russia, and India. The West is declining, throwing out its morals and human decency into the whirlwind of fascism, dehumanizing people who are not of the majority and who do not fit into the national narrative. The New World Order is forming under the banners of the UKIP, AfD, Front Nationale, and the Alt-Right. Make no mistake that there is international solidarity among these movements. Steve Bannon, Nigel Farage, and Marine le Pen have multiple times been sponsored by movements in each others' countries, and spoken throughout the world to encourage nationalism and disdain for liberal democracy. The New World Order is forming, but the question is who must defeat it this time. The fascists are mobilizing, but we throw stones at those organizing to stop this mobilization. We must remember in the United States the famous quote of Sinclair Lewis: "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross."
