Women, the Anti-Trump March, and Gun Rights

Many angry people on the Right severely criticized the national women’s protest march against Donald Trump. But the march was a Rorschach test - it's whatever people want it to be. The Right seems to want it to be a man-hating event. We're talking about over 3 million people around the country, though.

My mother and aunt marched and they were just there to show opposition to the new regime. I also know of plenty of Libertarian Party members who marched for the same reason. I absolutely love and respect the marchers, including the majority that come from the Left, but I have speak up about this notion of dreaming that someday "women might have the same rights as guns".

Though this is not the intention of the protesters, the original idea scrawled on the pickets logically translates into a desire to be owned by men, to have to register with the local government, to be locked up indoors until men are ready to USE you, and to be banned from going to school or even most public spaces. In California, it would also include background checks and a 10 day waiting period just for having sex. That's how deep runs the spread of misinformation on guns and gun rights.

I understand they believe Republican politicians care more about guns than them individually as people. Many of the women protesters also think that their ovaries and uteri have fewer 'rights' than guns. As someone who's had loaded weapons pointed at his face on multiple occasions (by public servants no less), I still think the anti-gun attitude is counter-productive. I'm not negating what the majority of marchers were protesting, at all. I simply believe more women should own guns and be equally as empowered as both the armed street criminal and the armed police officer. If more women owned handguns (and trained on how to use them), there would definitely be less rape and less violence against women in general.

Women should be armed. The working class should be armed. People who have children to protect should be armed. Yeah yeah yeah, gangs and shooters exist, but they also will, and they primarily prey on the UNARMED.

Whatever their primary motivation was, I'm glad over 3 million people marched. I couldn't care less what their personal motivation was. As a Libertarian and a student of Ron Paul and Murray Rothbard, what's important to me is that America has a large opposition to the regime, and that the Left is now ripe for a come-to-Jesus talk about abandoning the false left-right narrative and talking individual liberty.
