Despite speculation that Oprah might be considering a run for presidency, following the election of another media figure without traditional political experience, the talk show tycoon just confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that she would never take that step:

"I will never run for public office. That's a pretty definitive thing."

Previously, Bloomberg TV host David Rubenstein had asked Oprah if she would consider running to break the glass ceiling. And Oprah's response caused a lot of excitement:

“I actually never thought that that was — I never considered the question even a possibility [until now]. I just thought, ‘Oh ... oh.’”

But Oprah's best friend, Gayle King, who was in the audience during the Bloomberg interview, said she knew that Oprah wasn't serious:

"I was in the audience that day and it was clearly a joke…she was playing with David because they have such a great rapport. I would bet my first, second-born and any unborn children to come, that ain't never happening. Never."

It looks like King was right as Oprah announced not once but twice during the podcast with the Hollywood Reporter that she would never run for public office. Still, she's accomplished so much as a private citizen. When asked what she thought her legacy would be, Oprah brought up a quote by Maya Angelou:

"You have no idea what your legacy will be because your legacy is every life you touch."

With the finality of Oprah's decision, we will never call her Madam President, but she doesn't need to be the leader of the free world to leave an impact on millions of lives.
