Christmas is around the corner and all over social media as well and while Christmas is in the air, so are politics as people react to nearly everything to do with President Donald Trump. In recent weeks, there was the passage of the tax bill, the seeming end of Net Neutrality, and various other notable and, at times, meme-worthy moments from President Trump and the ongoing investigation of his Presidential campaign ties to Russia.

Naturally, the time of the year and the atmosphere around the President has inspired a hashtag, popular for those who aren’t a fan of President Trump. #AddTrumpRuinAnXMasSong was the second highest trending topic on Twitter on Friday, December 22. Here’s a look at some of the most popular responses.

@TrumpDotDotDot tweeted “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer Which Medicare No Longer Covers Because the Top 1% Got a Tax Cut.” A clever play on the Elmo & Patty classic Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.

@im_srishabh21 tweeted “Comb Over All Ye Faithful.” A reference, of course to President Trump’s unique hairstyle and the John Francis Wade’s 18th century Christmas Carol O Come All Ye Faithful.

@SoulCandyd tweeted “It's Beginning to Look a Lot like treason.” A reference to the scandal surrounding President Trump and the investigation of his campaign ties to Russia which many have called potentially treasonous, this tweet is also a tribute to Meredith Wilson’s 1951 Christmas classic, It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas.

@theclobra tweeted “Feliz Navidad will get you deported.” Early in his Presidency, President Trump angered many with his stance on Immigration, including plans to end the DREAM Act and a travel ban that would have kept people from several countries from being able to come to America. The song reference is Jose Feliciano’s 1970 crossover Christmas classic Feliz Navidad, which is Spanish for “I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas.”

@LukeWheeler01 tweeted “I Saw Mommy Getting Her P***y Grabbed by Santa Claus.” This not-safe-for-work entry is in reference to the infamous Access Hollywood tape on which the then-future President talked about being able to grope women inappropriately because he was a celebrity. The tweet also references Jimmy Boyd’s 1952 Christmas classic, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.

@psychopogostick tweeted “Covfefe the Snowman.” This clever tweet actually references one of President Trump’s most famous tweets. On May 31, 2017, as he was complaining about the negativity of the media, President Trump tweeted that his Presidency was going well: “Despite the constant negative press covfefe.” The song reference is, of course, Frosty the Snowman, recorded by the legendary Gene Autry for the iconic Frosty the Snowman television special.

@shellbell_xo tweeted “It’s beginning to look a lot like indictments Everywhere you go But the prettiest sight to see is the FBI that will be On your own front door.” Another reference to the FBI investigation of the President, this musical tweet took the premise to another level with nearly an entire verse of Meredith Wilson’s It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas, which has been quite a popular jumping off point for this trending topic.

@ErinLea7 tweeted “White Privileged Christmas.” This tweet reference pretty much speaks for itself in calling out the classist and racist perception of President Trump. The song reference is the classic 1942 Irving Berlin tune White Christmas sung by Bing Crosby in the Christmas classic movie of the same title. For a time, White Christmas was the biggest selling single in American history until it was surpassed in sales in 1997 by Elton John’s tribute to the late, legendary Princess Di, Candle in the Wind 97.
